CENTROPYGE DEBORAE. The Blue Velvet Angelfish is a stunning and newly discovered dwarf angelfish. Blue Velvet Angelfish have a completely deep blue color that looks nearly black under low light, but can be brilliant blue under strong reef lighting.
Blue Velvet Angelfish reach a maximum adult size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in a tank that is at least 55 gallons. Blue Velvet Angelfish are peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish or inverts in your tank. Angelfish can nip at both soft and hard corals as well as clams, for these reasons you must only add a Blue Velvet Angelfish to your reef tank with caution.
Blue Velvet Angelfish are very active fish and should be out and about in your tank during most of the day. Like most dwarf angelfish, you should only have one species in smaller tanks because of aggression issues. In larger tanks, you shouldn't have too much of an issue adding multiple Blue Velvet Angelfish or other dwarf angels to your tank. Blue Velvet Angelfish are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both meaty and green foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods, nori and algae sheets, spirulina and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Blue Velvet Angelfish healthy and thriving.
