Husbandry Life Support Technician Needed

We are seeking individuals that have a good work ethic and a desire for continuous learningg. The Life Support Technician is responsible for performing daily inspections of all life support systems and components and maintaining all equipment in working order. You will get hands-on training from some of the best in the field. No experience necessary but aquatic life enthusiasts are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Responsibilities/Duties 

  • Provide continuous monitoring of all critical life support systems
  • Perform daily inspections on all life support systems
  • Perform preventive and emergency maintenance of all critical life support systems and associated equipment as needed
  • Isolate, troubleshoot and coordinate the repair of faulty life support systems including pumps, aquarium system filtration, and LSS building controls equipment 
  • Perform or assist with the construction and fabrication of new life support systems
  • Practice good judgment in decision-making as related to animal care, emergency situations, and projects, and communicate efficiently to the Husbandry Manager when their involvement is necessary.

 

Qualifications/Requirements 

  • Previous aquatic animal support experience in a private or public aquarium is highly desirable but not a requirement
  • Positive attitude and the ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner
  • Pipe fitting and fabrication skills are highly desirable
  • Work experience such as handyman, construction or mechanical experience are highly desirable
  • Must possess sound judgment and ability to use common sense for effective decision-making
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail and task completion are essential
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays as required
  • Willingness to perform other duties or assist other departments as needed
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs, pull and push up to 100lbs and to work at a variety of heights
  • Valid driver's license is a plus 
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is not required but is a plus
